Jozani Rainforest, on the way to the South East coast and part of the Chwaka Bay Conservation Area, is a lush and explorable forest. Jozani is the largest area of mature forest on Zanzibar and a hot-spot of biodiversity and stunning scenery. Hre you will come across the majestic version of all the mini version plants you can find at home.

The rainforest is home to a number of endemic species, including the very rare Red Colobus Monkey, only found in Zanzibar and one of Africa´s rarest primates. The
population on the island is 3500 monkey of which a third can be found in Jozani Forest. Other animals to be seen when walking the natural trails lined with eucalyptus and
mahogany trees, is Blue Sykes Monkeys, elephant shrews and bush babies.

The walk through the rainforest takes about 45 min and you will notice the dramatic change as you enter the mangrove forest where crabs and fish are seen in the muddy water at low tide. The forest is managed entirely by local people who also acts as guards and guides.
