Untouched and real
Uzi island is still untouched by tourism and most of the Uzis are fishermen and paysants. The islands´ scenery is lush with mangrove, banana plantations and huge mango trees.
The island can only be reached by boat or at low tide when the only road to the island surface
Meet Abdullah and family
Abdullah our friend, will meet us and take us to his home and family. We start with tea under the mango tree before mounting the family´s oxcarriage for an uncomfortable but highly authentic tour in the islands prime vehicle. We will visit the other village and taste some fruits and local candy. Once back at Abdullahs home his wife and mother has prepared a lunch that we eat together under the trees.
A walk around the area, to see baobab trees and bee hives. After that we go back with a wood canoe until we reach the mangrove where the paddle will be our engine. After a full day of impressions we return home by car.
